Summer Yeshiva 2009

Summer Yeshiva: Advanced Jewish Education is an intensive, accelerated study program designed to provide a comprehensive Jewish education for people in the following categories:
- Jewish adults who grew up lacking a Jewish education or model of observance (Baal Teshuvah).
- Non-Jews on the path to conversion who are married or engaged to a Jewish partner/spouse who show sincere intention and practical action to be a geir tzedek (true convert).
Please note- the conversion process is a long and challenging journey for the serious candidate. This programshould not be construed as a short cut to that journey but only as a valuable component. At the conclusion of the program, all candidates will proceed with their conversion process based on their individual situation. - Non-Jews (defined by Halachah) who need conversion due to the fact that they were raised by non-halachically Jewish parents.
This program is jointly sponsored by the Eternal Jewish Family (EJF) led by Rabbi Leib Tropper and Rabbi David Jacobs and Jewish Rockville Outreach Center (JewishROC) led by Rabbi Yaacov Benamou. The goal of this program is to provide an intensive five week, full time, yeshiva-style experience to develop knowledge and proficiency in Jewish thought and observance. The program builds a foundation in theory and practice to engage students in authentic Jewish experiences in an observant environment. We create a Yeshiva atmosphere, with the inclusion of a parallel SEED program to support learning and to serve as a role model for our students.
The five week curriculum is taught by experienced rabbis in the field of education and outreach and includes the following areas of study: Torah, Hebrew, Prophets, Pirkei Avot (Ethics of Our Fathers), Jewish Law and the Jewish Calendar and Holidays. Upon completion of the program, students will have acquired 200 hours of formal study with an optional 50 hours in elective courses on various Jewish topics. Most of all, students will have a strong foundation in Jewish thought and will be prepared to make a major commitment toward living an observant Jewish life.
Student cost for the program is $800 and includes full accommodations and meals. The program cost does not include books, which we expect to be approximately $100. To register, call 301-468-3881 to arrange a phone interview with Rabbi Benamou. Following your phone interview, submit an application with a check for $800.
