Our hebrew program is tailored to the beginner as well as to the advanced reader. We currently offer the following classes:

Reading Courses

aleph Basic Reading- Accelerated Pace

Date: Tuesdays & Thursdays June 15-July 15, 2010
7:00p.m.-8:15 p.m.
Cost: $50/member; $60/non-member (includes book)
For those with little or no exposure to the Hebrew language, this beginning class teaches letters, vowels, decoding and basic vocabulary. This class is the foundation for further Hebrew study and is also a great refresher for those who want to brush up on their skills. Click here to register.


Tehillim B'Ivrit

Date: Tuesdays June 15-August 24, 2010 (No class July 20)
10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Cost: $50/member; $60/non-member
Book: Artscroll Tehillim (includes book)
For those who can read Hebrew but want to increase fluency. Each class is devoted to specific psalms and students practice for fluency and comprehension. After each class students receive a short summary of the prayers to review on their own. Click here to register.

Date: Wednesdays, May 5-July 14, 2010

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to read the Chumash and not have to read the English translation? This class is the ideal place to start. We examine verses from the Parasha of the week word for word until all students will be familiar with the unique language of the Torah. Ideal for anyone who can read, no matter what level of fluency. Prayerbook Hebrew Courses

Dates: Tuesdays, June 15—August 24 (no class July 20)
9:00-10:00 a.m.

For the student with a solid proficiency in reading, this course builds comprehension, introduces grammar structure, and basic conversational skills. A portion of each class is allocated for the key areas of language development .Prerequisite: ability to read proficiitenly Click here to register.

Modern Hebrew Courses

ulpan-like Conversational Hebrew/Ulpan

Dates: Mondays, July 5-August 30, 2010
10:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m.
Cost: $50/member; $60/non-member
Book: Hebrew in 30 Lessons ($25)
immerse yourself in conversational Hebrew with this Ulpan style class. We will simulate everyday situations like bargaining in the "shuk", visiting museums and parks, supermarkets and more. ability to read is helpful but not necessary. Click here to register.

talkingAdvanced Hebrew

Book: Modern Hebrew for Beginners ($20)
In this fast-paced conversational class, students will read and write essays and use grammar and vocabulary to practice and hold conversations in hebrew. Prerequsite: ability to read without vowels. Click here to register.
